Sell a plugin
Put a price on a plugin you published, get 70% of every sale, and how and when you're paid.
Any plugin you publish can be free or paid. Buyers pay once, on the website, and keep the plugin. You get 70% of every sale; the rest covers payment fees, refunds and running the marketplace.
Publish it
Publish the plugin as usual. Every plugin starts free.
Pick a price
Open Account → Plugins on the website, choose a price next to your plugin and press Ask for this price. (Scripts can do the same with PUT /plugins/:slug/price.)
| Price | India | Elsewhere | You get (India / elsewhere) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | ₹49 | $1 | ₹34.30 / $0.70 |
| Tier 2 | ₹99 | $2 | ₹69.30 / $1.40 |
| Tier 3 | ₹199 | $3 | ₹139.30 / $2.10 |
| Tier 4 | ₹399 | $5 | ₹279.30 / $3.50 |
| Tier 5 | ₹799 | $10 | ₹559.30 / $7.00 |
Buyers in India pay in rupees, everyone else in US dollars.
ForgeCast reviews it
Someone at ForgeCast checks that the plugin works, does what it says and is worth the price, usually within a few days. Approved: it goes on sale. Turned down: you see why on the same page, and can change the plugin or the price and ask again. Until then the plugin keeps the price it had.
Making a plugin free again needs no review.
Add where to pay you
Under Getting paid on the same page, add a UPI ID (India) or a bank account (account number or IBAN, and the IFSC or SWIFT code). It's stored encrypted; only staff paying you can read it.
What buyers see
Your plugin shows its price in the marketplace, on the website and in the app. Pressing it in the app opens the plugin's page on the website, where the buyer pays with Razorpay (UPI, cards, net banking). After that the plugin installs from the app like any other, on every computer they sign in to, including every new version you publish.
Buyers need Pro or Ultimate, the same as for free plugins. Your own plugin always installs for you.
When you're paid
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Refund window | Each sale is held 7 days, the buyer's refund window. A refunded sale earns nothing. |
| Payable | After that, its share is payable. Account → Plugins shows what's earned, held, payable and paid out. |
| Monthly | ForgeCast pays creators by hand once a month, by UPI or bank transfer, and lists each transfer with its reference. |
| Minimum | A payout is sent once your payable balance reaches ₹500 (rupee sales) or $10 (dollar sales). Less rolls over to the next month. |
| Currencies | Rupee and dollar sales are kept and paid separately. |
You're responsible for any tax on what you earn. The full rules are in the Developer Terms.
Rules for paid plugins
- It must do what its description says, without hidden features, ads or tracking.
- Ask only for the permissions it needs. A paid plugin is still a community plugin: the app warns before installing it.
- No code copied from someone else's plugin without their permission.
- Keep it working. ForgeCast can take a paid plugin off sale (and refund buyers) if it breaks and isn't fixed.
Buyers can read your code
A plugin is Lua source: whoever installs it can read it. Selling a plugin licenses its use; it isn't copy protection. Never put secrets in a plugin.
